On Monday, November 11th, Americans will pause to commemorate our veterans, whose patriotism, service and sacrifice defending our great nation can never be appropriately repaid. In an effort to extend their gratitude for our veterans’ service to our country, the VA has compiled a list of the following organizations and businesses that are providing the following discounts and offers in honor of Veteran’s Day:

Active duty, reserve, or retired military personnel in uniform or with a valid ID receive 15% discount on Military Mondays (Every Monday including Memorial Day) at Hometown Buffet. General George Washington created Purple Heart Day in 1782 as a badge of military merit for soldiers who had been wounded during “any singularly act of meritorious action.” The soldier would be presented this badge, their name would be inscribed in the “Book of Merit” along with their regiment and they would be publicly recognized for their valor.

The approach of Naval Reserves Day is a call to action for patriots to show their support of this honored corps. The U.S. Naval Reserve, as it is known today, was established on August 29, 1916, as World War I waged its way across the Eastern hemisphere. The brave men and women of the Reserves stand on guard at home, ready to respond when called up during times of national crisis — a duty that now stands at over a century old. Their slogan: Ready then. Ready now. Ready always.
