The sacrifices that they made help ensure that we can maintain all the freedoms that are part and parcel of American citizenship.

Memorial Day is fast approaching, and you might be making plans to barbecue and relax on your day off. More importantly, you are honoring and remembering those who served in our military for the freedom we enjoy today.

Spring can be a very unpredictable season. Regardless of what the forecast says, you can’t know for sure whether it will be windy, hot, snowy or suddenly rainy.

The approach of Naval Reserves Day is a call to action for patriots to show their support of this honored corps. The U.S. Naval Reserve, as it is known today, was established on August 29, 1916, as World War I waged its way across the Eastern hemisphere. The brave men and women of the Reserves stand on guard at home, ready to respond when called up during times of national crisis — a duty that now stands at over a century old. Their slogan: Ready then. Ready now. Ready always.
