Tennessee State Flags
Designed by LeRoy Reeves of the Third Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry, the Tennessee State flag was adopted for official use in 1905. Three different geographic regions of the state, the Great Smoky Mountains of the state’s eastern region, the highlands in central Tennessee and the lowlands in western Tennessee, are symbolized by the three white stars that appear at the flag's center. The regions are bound together by a circle of white.
