Gambia Flags

The Gambian flag was designed by the English College of Arms. It came into being in 1965. It has three horizontal stripes separated by two narrow white stripes. The top stripe is red the middle blue and the bottom one green. Red stands for the sun when it shines on the Gambia River. The blue color represents the river. The river Gambia runs through the center of Gambia and is therefore placed in the center of the flag. The green color represents the land and the white bands symbolize purity, peace and unity.
