Hungary Flags

The first flag of Hungry was associated with the Arpad Kings of Hungry. It had seven stripes of red and white or red and silver. It was used from the 9th to the 14th century. From 1867-1918 a flag with three horizontal stripes was used. In the center was a coat of arms. From 1940-1945 the flag remained the same; only the shield from the coat of arms was used. From 1946-1949 and again from 1956-1957, the flag remained the same; only the top of the shield was removed. In 1957 the coat of arms was completely removed leaving only the horizontal stripes.
