Kyrghyzstan Flags

The flag of Kyrgyzstan was adopted on March 3, 1992. Kyrgyzstan gained independence from the Soviet Union on August 31, 1991. The flag has a red background with a yellow sun in the middle. The sun has 40 rays to represent the 40 tribes of Kyrgyzstan. The sun also represents light, infinite nobility and eternity. The red background signifies the color of Manas the Noble, the national hero. Inside the sun symbol is the emblem of a yurt or tent roof that is the traditional tent used by the Kyrgyzstan people, who are nomadic.
