Myanmar Flags

The Myanmar flag was adopted in 1974. Myanmar is formerly called Burma. The country was part of the Socialist Republic of the Burmese Foundation. It gained independence from Britain in 1948 and based the flag design on the British flag. The blue square in the upper corner has a cogwheel and ears of rice to represent the country's agriculture and industry. The 14 stars represent the 14 states that make up the Union of Myanmar. The blue represents peace and endurance while the red represents courage and gallantry.
