Panama Flags

The Panama flag was adopted in 1903 and was finally approved for use in 1925. Panama was a Spanish colony until 1821 when it gained independence. Following its independence from Spain, Panama became a province of Colombia. In 1903 Panama gained independence from Columbia with support from the United States military. The United States then received permission to build the Panama Canal. The Panama flag colors of red and blue represent the two political parties of Panama while the white symbolizes the peace between them.
