Trinidad & Tobago Flags
Before it became independent, Trinidad used a blue British ensign. It also had a circular picture of a ship coming in front of a mountain. In 1962 a new flag was created. It has a red background with an off-center black diagonal stripe that features a white border. The colors are representative of different things; red is for the life and courage of its people and the sun. Black symbolizes the strength and unity of the citizens and the natural resources of the country. White is for the purity and equality of all the people around the world and also for the sea. All the colors symbolize fire, water and earth.
