The flag of Venezuela was first flown in 1811. It had three horizontal stripes with yellow on the top, blue in the center and red at the bottom. The flag of Angostura was introduced in 1817 with eight white stars. Later in 1863, seven white stars were added in a cluster at the center of the blue stripe. In 1930 the flag we know today was born, with the same horizontal stripes and the seven white stars in an arc in the center of the blue stripe. An additional star was added to the arc in 2006.
