Nylon Mexico Flag
One of the most recognizable flags in the world, the Mexico flag, has three equal-sized vertical stripes. The stripes are green, white and red. The middle white stripe contains the country's national coat of arms. The Mexican flag was adopted on September 16, 1968. Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821 and used a flag with diagonal stripes of the same colors as today's flag. The coat of arms was added in 1823. The diagonal stripes were eventually changed to vertical stripes as seen in the current flag. The coat of arms depicts an ancient Aztec legend that reveals how Mexico City was settled.
