Heavy-Duty Polyester Utah Flags

These commercial-grade flags are spun from 2-ply polyester that’s thick, durable, and built to last. Due to their heavyweight construction, we do not recommend attaching these flags to a wall-mounted flagpole.

Why Did Utah Redesign Its Flag? 

 
According to the North American Vexillologist Association, a good flag can be easily recreated and be recognizable at a distance. A 2021 poll revealed that Utahns did not feel their state flag represented them personally. After the results, the Utah government formed a task force to begin the redesign process. Their goal was to create a flag representing the great state of Utah while following the basic principles of good flag design. 
It took almost a year, thousands of submissions, and several redesigns, but eventually, the task force came up with the beehive flag. They sent it to the Utah legislature, which approved the design on March 3, 2023, to go into effect the following calendar year. Starting March 9, 2024, the Utah state capital will fly both versions of its flag. 
 

What is the Significance of the New Utah Flag Design? 

Each element of the flag represents something different about Utah.

•  The dark blue background represents Utah’s wide-open skies.
• The beehive emblem is a visual representation of the “beehive state.”  
• The mountain peaks represent Utah’s snowy mountains and the indigenous people who called them home centuries prior.  
• The red represents the rich red soil in Utah’s world-famous national parks. 
• The five-pointed star symbolizes the year Utah received official statehood, 1896.
