Q: Is this a telescoping flagpole kit?

A: No, this is a sectional flagpole kit. That means that the aluminum flagpole comes in five sections that you put together to create a flagpole with 20 ft above ground height. The fact that it is sectioned helps the shipping cost; this can ship the usual ways, such as UPS or FedEx, and does not require an LTL Freight delivery.

Q: How do I attach the flag to this 20 ft flagpole kit?

A: You would take the halyard, pinch, and hold a loop in it. Then push the loop through the eye in the nylon snap hook until it reaches the length of the snap hook. Bring the loop over the snap hook, folding back towards the halyard. Pull the snap hook in the opposite direction, tightening it to the halyard. Then attach the second snap hook a little less than three feet from the first, where the grommets on the flag would be. Once both nylon snap hooks are attached to the rope halyard, just clip them onto the grommeted flag.

Q: I’ve heard of external and internal halyard, but which is this?

A: This 20 foot flagpole kit with U.S flag is an “external halyard” flagpole. This means that the rope halyard goes up to the pulley in the truck at the top of the pole and then back down and ties onto the cleat all on the outside of the flagpole itself. You would pull on one side of the halyard to lower the flag and the other side to raise it. An “internal halyard” flagpole would have most of the halyard go up inside the pole shaft until it reaches the truck, where it comes out to attach the flag. They are raised and lowered by a winch system.

Q: Can I fly two or more flags on this flagpole?

A: No, this particular 20-foot flagpole kit is rated for just one 3’x5’ nylon flag at a time. If you want to also fly your state flag and/or a military flag, then please look at the other in-ground flagpoles we offer, such as telescoping or fiberglass.
