Ohio State Flags
Based upon the pennant used by the Ohio cavalry between 1862 and 1865, the Ohio flag, or burgee, is the only U.S. state flag that is not a rectangle. Full of symbolism, the union of the flag, a large blue triangle, features 17 white stars to commemorate Ohio as the 17th state to enter the Union. The 13 stars that are grouped around the circle symbolize the 13 original colonies. The white circle within the triangle forms an "O" for Ohio and the blue triangle is representative of Ohio's hills and valleys.
