Utah State Flags
The state seal of Utah is depicted against a field of blue on the Utah state flag. Pictured on the seal is the state emblem, a beehive, along with a sego lily, which symbolizes peace. "Industry," the state motto which means "Steady Effort," is inscribed above the beehive and an eagle symbolizing protection in peace and war spreads its wings across the seal. The date 1847 commemorates the year Brigham Young led his Mormon followers into Utah to establish a new base for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and 1896 was the date that Utah became a state.
