Cambodia Flags

The Cambodian flag has been in existence since the 1850s. From 1863 to 1942 the flag was red with a blue border. In the center of the red square was a white Angkor Wat. From 1942-1945, the flag was red with a white outline of a square in the center. At each corner of the square and in its center were small white squares. From 1948-1970 the flag was red with a blue stripe on the top and the bottom. The white Angkor Wat was in the center. From 1970-1975 The background became blue with a red square and the Angkor Wat in white at the top left hand corner. Three white stars were lined up horizontally on the top right hand side. From 1975-1979 the flag had a red background with a yellow Angkor Wat. In 1989-1991 the Angkor Wat symbol changed and a blue stripe was added to the bottom. In 1993, the 1948-1970 version of the flag was reinstated and is used today.
