Estonia Flags

The Estonian flag had its beginnings in the 1880s. It was used by students of the Estonian Students’ Society at Tartu University. This flag can be seen in the Estonian National Museum. It was first flown in 1918. From 1940-1944 the flag was not used. It was flown again when the Germans retreated. The flag was later banned with the Soviet occupation. In 1990 it again attained its glory as the national flag of Estonia. Featuring three horizontal stripes; blue on the top, black and white at the bottom, the flag has a coat of arms in the center.
