Niger Flags

The Niger flag is made up of three horizontal stripes. The top stripe is orange, the middle is white and the bottom is green. The middle stripe contains an orange circle. The Niger flag was adopted in 1959 and Niger gained independence from France in 1960. The orange stripe symbolizes the Sahara Desert, which covers more than half the country. The white stripe stands for purity and innocence and the green stripe denotes lush green vegetation and fertile agricultural areas. The orange circle symbolizes the sun. The Niger flag is almost a perfect square.
